Turn the drive to or from the airport into a visit to a stilt village on Tonlé Sap lake
The airport is about an hour from town, so the transfer takes a slice of your day either way. This one puts that time to use, with a stop at Kompong Phluk, a village built on tall stilts beside Tonlé Sap lake.
Arriving: your driver meets you in the arrivals area with your name on a sign, takes you and your luggage to the village, then on to the hotel.
Leaving: your driver collects you from the hotel, stops at the village, and drops you at the terminal in time for your flight.
Tell us your flight number when you book and we will plan the timing around it.
Rice fields, sugar palms and village houses line the road between the airport and the lake.
Wooden houses stand on tall stilts above the ground, and the village looks completely different between the dry months and high water. Walk through and see how families here live from fishing and the lake.
When the water is high enough, you can take a local boat through the waterways and flooded forest. The fare is paid on the spot and is not included.
